Among stories of slaves, privateers and pirates, fierce defensive walls and forts, we also find an impressive religious history.
Cartagena has some impressive churches and we will visit them and learn about the significance in their placement. Only in Cartagena we find two churches sharing the same plaza. The gothic inspired Church of San-Diego adjacent to the sober Chapel of Santa Clara, both with different spiritual uses.
On our way through historical Cartagena we will visit significant churches such as: The Third Order of St. Toribio in built in Mudejar style, the Merced Church of old colonial republican style, the Church of Santo Domingo, and the Cartagena Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandri. Last we visit the most important Cathedral of St. Peter Claver, built in baroque style.
