Visit and learn about the amazing forts and strongholds that once served as a vital protection of the city. We travel from Cartagena and let the events of Cartagena’s major sea battles unfold.
We will visit the strong Santa Cruz de Castillo Grande in Manzanillo, guarding the mouth of the anchorage. As we cross over from the inner into the outer bay we get a good overview of the dike enclosing Bocagrande, as well as the bay in front of Tierra Bomba Island. Traveling down the Coast of Tierra Bomba Island we reach on the southern end the Fort San Fernando and the Son Jose Bocachica defending, as well as the Fort of San Rafael situated on the height of the small hill.
On our return we will enjoy a delightful drink or bite to eat at the bay side restaurant Pizzeria Aguanile.
